Your digital profile privacy checklist: what to show and what to keep private

Understand public links, search visibility, verified emails and contact downloads before publishing your digital card.

Decide what belongs on a public card

A useful professional profile does not need every personal detail. Your name, role, company and relevant links may be enough for a first introduction. Use work contact details when they are appropriate, and keep information you do not want copied out of the profile.

Review your biography, service descriptions, photographs and cover image too. Contact visibility switches cannot hide a phone number you have written into a public introduction or placed inside an image.

Verify emails before showing them

Signup verification confirms access to the account email. Public contact emails are checked separately. Verify each work or personal address, then choose whether to show it in profile privacy settings.

Verification does not automatically make an email public. You still control visibility. If you change an address, complete the required verification for the new address before showing it.

Separate search visibility from publication

A draft profile is not public. Once published, anyone with its link can open it. Search visibility is on by default, and you can switch it off in the profile privacy settings.

Switching search visibility off requests removal from the sitemap and discourages search-engine indexing. It does not make the published link private or immediately remove older search results. Turn off publication when you want the profile itself to stop being public.

Check downloads and shared images

Contact downloads follow your privacy choices. Before sharing, test Save contact and inspect which details are included. Downloaded profile images contain public details at the time they are created.

When you change what you show, create a fresh image for future sharing. People may keep old contacts, screenshots or printed copies, so consider privacy before publishing in the first place.

Protect the account behind your profile

Use a strong, unique password and consider enabling authenticator verification in Account settings. Save your recovery codes somewhere safe outside the account. Do not share verification codes or recovery codes.

Revisit your profile after a job change or a change of phone number. Keep the public card current and remove details you no longer want to share. For questions about BizTapio privacy, contact [email protected].
